Here’s a fun little video I made with Vogue Eyewear on what I love most about living in Miami. Of course, it’s the beachy lifestyle. “South Beach is famous for the beach, so you’ve got to take advantage of it,” I explain. “I love anything from going for a swim in the ocean. If there’s waves to try to go surfing. Sailing. You can go for a run on the beach. Do yoga.” After this video, I can now add slo-mo […]

Thursday morning, I donned the most fashionable thing I could throw together in my closet (BCBG silver pumps, TIBI black and white striped jersey pencil skirt, white BCBG blouse, beaded necklace from Calypso New York and my new red Lanvin handbag–sorry, forgot to take pix #notafahionblogger) and headed to Cecconi’s at Soho Beach House for their new monthly Fashion For Breakfast series, featuring panel discussions with fashion entrepreneurs. This month, fashion blogger Ginger Harris moderated a discussion with Sari […]

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim officially kicks off tonight at The Raleigh hotel and I, for one, get excited whenever this time of year comes around. Bikinis might very well be my favorite fashion staple of all time.  They exude confidence, freedom and a celebration of the female form. Even more to the point, it’s what I’m doing while I’m in my bikini that I really love–surfing, snorkeling, sailing or swimming, this water baby is happiest slathered in SPF 50 […]

Guess who just called me one of the nicest people she’s ever met in South Florida? Fellow travel blogger Ashley Vaccarino of Arrive Chic. I was thrilled to have the chance to take part in her Travel Style interview series on her site and dish on all the ways I like to travel. She’s got a great travel blog, as well as an e-commerce store for all of your travel essentials. I took a look and picked my top three […]

Image: Pharrell's Twitter

Ever since I had the opportunity to interview Pharrell this summer, I like to think of him as both my friend and neighbor here in Miami. Today, I was enjoying a (much needed) lazy Saturday scrolling through my Twitter feed when this tweet came up: First of all, thanks for the International Women’s Day love, Pharrell. I totally RTed you. The next thing I noticed was that he had a new Twitter profile picture (above). I clicked to look at […]

A chic room explosion by Chanel

There’s a travel phenomenon that my best friend and frequent travel companion Krista and I coined years ago. The room explosion occurs when, in spite of your best efforts, your hotel room becomes progressively messier with each passing day to the point that it actually looks like a small bomb has gone off inside your suitcase, leaving its contents strewn haphazardly all over your room. When I spotted this Chanel ad about a year ago, I knew I had to […]

Fall is here, or so they say, but in balmy Miami that means something different from the rest of the world’s fashion capitals. I talked to 10 of Miami’s top fashion bloggers (and threw in a couple of street style photographers, for good measure) and asked them how they’re interpreting fall trends. I’m hearing enthusiasm over menswear and tomboy inspired pieces, punk rock and ’90s throwbacks, and rich hues, like emerald green and grey. For Annie Vazquez and Mayleen Gonzalez’s […]

At the Chambord lounge. Thanks for coming Betsy & Monica!

It was just over a week ago that I moderated the Facing Fashion Chat Series on Italian Alta Moda for the first annual Miami Fashion Film Festival at O Cinema. It was a truly enjoyable evening chatting up vintage “king” Keni Valenti and stylist Anna Chu about the exhibition they curated at the Keni Valenti Gallery. Italian Alta Moda is on display now with 23 vintage pieces dating from 1951 to 1977, featuring designers, such as Valentino, Pucci, Lancetti, and Schubert. Beach Riot, Aquarella Swimwear, Beach Riot

I love bikinis. The ability to wear one year round was one of the reasons I moved to South Florida in the first place. Naturally, I get excited when Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim comes to town. This was my second year covering the event, and a conflict arose when I had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica the same weekend. When it came down to it, the chance to actually wear a bikini in a tropical locale I’d never […]
